Horrillo

At last the day and we ventured on our way to Horrillo, home in Spain of the Order of the Brothers of the Holy Family, the sky holding his rain throughout the day thanks to all our prayers to Brother Gabriel, who worked miracles to go against all expectations meteorologists during the previous days.

With the usual output in school, we set the direction Riaz N-1 and continue to make a paradilla in the main square of Ayllón. There with a hot coffee and an eye in the sky, we prepare the next leg to go but not before taking pictures of the opening of the Centennial OUT our new flag BIKERS OF THE SAFA.

continue our march towards Mazagatos , with his large church, Lagunilla, with a beautiful square and church with a magnificent Romanesque capitals. and edge Aldealengua up to MADERUELO , Templar landmark listed as the writer John G. Atienza where we stop to visit walk the streets: After crossing a bridge over protected Roman catapults climbed a steep hill to the Shrine of the True Cross which was said to be guarded by the Templars for many years a portion of the Santa Cruz (Lignum Cross). Place where tradition says also to be found the riches of Don Alvaro de Luna in Maderuelo guarding and did not appear after his death. We look for them a while, just in case.
Fuentelcesped is why we left, Fuentelencina, Aranda de Duero Villalba and we Horrillo where we were greeted by Brother Crispin, who taught us the Foundling Home of the Order: the first school desks, files with priceless ancient documents, ancient books and Bibles, a large number of utensils secrets related to the art of wine and the winery owners ; the various meeting rooms, countless bedrooms to welcome groups of living (including al.) After presented with a aperitivillo and let us try a sample of their wines and spirits, it was time to continue our path. A brief but intense visit we will never forget. "Thank you, Brother Crispin."
And with the appetizer bug us stand in Roa, where we'll get between chest and back a delicious lamb place while we discuss our trifles of bikers relaxed in the restaurant "The Nazarene" where they are experts in the difficult art of grilling.

the afternoon and after a short paseillo we go to Peñafiel from which we see the impressive mountain Peñafiel castle built in the tenth century Fundamental point was on the defensive line of the Duero both Christians and Muslims and qe from there dominated the valleys of the Douro, and Botijas Duratón, defending the population. Its plan is rectangular, 210 meters long and 35 meters wide and with a sharp angle pointing toward the North giving it looks like a great ship. Currently there is the Museo Provincial del Vino and height can be seen from major stores wine as "Protos" or "The Upper Tamajón."

continue to Cuellar, a town of singular past and traditions with streets strewn with monuments and traces of singular architecture. We go to the base of the Castle of the Dukes of Albuquerque, was home to the richest and most varied armory in the country but was completely looted in the war of independence. Was the headquarters of Lord Wellington and safe haven of General Victor Hugo during the Revolutionary War and was at that period when he suffered the plundering and looting of Napoleon's soldiers. Now owned by the Duke of Alburquerque, but its use is transferred to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, hosting a secondary education institute and the Archive of the Ducal House of Albuquerque.
Cantalejo to continue to make a last stop for a drink and discuss everything seen and unseen.

And happy to have spent a great day we come home address or, from about Castllo Castilnovo County visit someday.
